An alkaloid having effects similar to those of cocaine, first isolated from Javanese coca, and (formerly) used as a local or spinal anaesthetic.Tropacocaine is a tropane alkaloid which is the benzoyl ester of a stereoisomer of tropine (pseudotropine).
