Etymology: < uni- comb. form + personal adj. Compare Spanish unipersonal relating to a single individual (c1795 or earlier), Portuguese unipessoal (1848), Italian unipersonale (1830 in grammar, or earlier).In sense 2 after French unipersonnel (1818 in grammar in this sense).

a. Theology. Of God: that exists in only one person (person n. 6a). Also (in extended use) of a human being: that exists in only one mode of being. Cf. tri-personal adj.; Unitarian n. 1.The concept of a unipersonal God is distinct from the orthodox Christian doctrine of one God existing in three persons or modes of being (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).
