Etymology: < water n. + rocket n.4, probably after post-classical Latin eruca aquatica (1588 or earlier). Compare German Wasserrauke (1588 or earlier, now rare).
Now rare.
Any of various aquatic or semiaquatic plants of the genus Rorippa (family Brassicaceae ( Cruciferae)), as creeping yellow cress, R. sylvestris, and common yellow cress, R. palustris.
