Phrases 1k) and poor-mouth n. (compare uses in phrases in Irish, as béal bocht a dhéanamh, literally ‘to make a poor mouth’, chuir sé béal bocht air he put on a poor mouth, literally ‘he put a poor mouth on him’).Popularized by the satirical Irish-language novel An Béal Bocht (1941) by Brian O'Nolan (writing as ‘Myles na gCopaleen’, but cited as ‘Flann O'Brien’ in the 1973 translation).
