Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: yet v., -ling suffix1.
Etymology: < yet v. (compare β. forms at that entry) + -ling suffix1.In the forms yetland, yetlan', etc. apparently with alteration of the final -ing after -and, -an', Scots variants of -ing suffix2; these forms first appear in use as adjective (compare quot. 1792 at sense B.), but are subsequently also found as nouns. The form ȝetin may alternatively be a variant of yoten adj. (compare the β. forms at that entry), although that word is not otherwise attested in Older Scots use.
Scottish and English regional (northern).
