Etymology: < Central Alaskan Yupik Yup'ik, self-designation (pronounced /ˈjuppɪk/; < yuk person + -pik genuine; compare the similarly-formed Inupiaq iñupiaq Inupiaq n.).In the form Yupic (found chiefly in the phrase Yupic Eskimo) probably influenced by -ic suffix.
