Inder
a solar salt lake in Gur’ev Oblast, Kazakh SSR, that has no outlet. Situated in the Caspian Lowland, 10 km east of the Ural River at the foothills of the Inder Mountains, it has an area of 110 sq km. Inder Lake is fed by numerous salt springs, which are abundant along the shores. High-quality salt containing potassium, bromine, and boron is extracted here. The thickness of the salt layer reaches 10–15 m.
