HDAC9 HDAC9 A gene on chromosome 7q21.1 that encodes histone deacetylase 9, a protein with sequence homology to members of the histone deacetylase family and orthologous to Xenopus and mouse MITR genes, the protein product of which lacks a histone deacetylase catalytic domain. MITR represses myocyte enhancer factor-2 (MEF2) activity by recruiting multicomponent corepressor complexes—including CtBP and HDACs. HDAC9 may play a role in haematopoiesis. |
