[′hī ‚spēd fə′täg·rə·fē] (graphic arts) Photography to record movement or events that occur too quickly to be observed by usual visual or photographic means; motion pictures may be shot at high speeds (50-500 frames per second) and projected at normal rates, so that the action of the subject is slowed to a point where it can be observed; or a series of individual still photos may be produced.
