释义 | Grant, Peter R.Grant, Peter R. (Raymond)(1936– ) ornithologist, zoologist; born in London, England. He first came to the U.S.A. to be a zoology fellow at Yale (1964–65), then taught at McGill University in Canada (1965–77), where he began his studies on finches in 1973. He joined the University of Michigan (1977–85) before relocating to Princeton (1985), where he continued his ornithological investigations. He won the 1983 Brewster Award for his research on Darwin's finches of the Galapagos Islands. In addition to writing two books on finches with his wife, Rosemary Grant, he made major contributions to studies of interspecific competition in rodents, and the evolutionary importance of animal interactions relative to ecology, behavior, systematics, and genetics. |
