Graves, Nancy (Stevenson)

(1940– ) sculptor, painter; born in Pittsfield, Mass. She studied at Yale School of Art (B.F.A. 1961; M.F.A. 1964), worked in Paris (1964–65) and Florence (1965–66), then settled in New York City (1966). She is known for her Bactrian camel series of the late 1960s, her biomorphic and moon films (1971–74), camouflage and aerial photo paintings, and also for her fanciful sculptures.
