Belopole
Belopol’e
a city, administrative center of Belopo’e Raion of Sumy Oblast, Ukrainian SSR, on the Vir River (part of the Dnieper basin). There is a railroad station. Population, 17,600 (1969). A machine-building plant (producing equipment for food-processing plants), a cheese-processing plant, a cannery, and a furniture factory are located there. The city was founded in 1672.
