Griffith, Clark (Calvin)

(1869–1955) baseball player/manager/executive; born in Clear Creek, Mo. During his remarkable baseball career, he was one of the game's great (right-handed) pitchers for 21 years (1891–1914), a manager for 20 years (1901–20), and the president of the Washington Senators American League club for 26 years (1920–55). He was elected to baseball's Hall of Fame in 1946.
