GromwellGromwell(Lithospermum), a genus of plants of the Boraginaceae family. The genus includes annual, biennial, and perennial herbs and semishrubs. There are approximately 60 species, found mostly in the northern hemisphere. In the USSR there are seven species, growing most frequently in forest steppe and steppe zones. Common gromwell (L. officinale), a perennial with whitish-yellowish flowers, is found in open places and among shrubs. Corn gromwell (L. arvense) is an annual that grows along dry slopes and as a weed in fields everywhere except in the arctic. gromwell
