Julius Lippert
Lippert, Julius
Born Apr. 12, 1839, in Braunau, present-day Broumov, Czechoslovakia; died Nov. 12, 1909, in Prague. Austrian historian and ethnographer of the evolutionary school.
Lipperf’s works are devoted to the history of the family, culture, and religion. He found the sources of all forms of culture in man’s work, and he thought that the cultural development of human society has general regularities. Lippert opposed racism. His works retain their value.
