Istoricheskii Vestnik
(Historical Journal), a Russian popular and scholarly monthly historical journal. It was published in St. Petersburg from 1880 to 1917, first by A.S. Suvorin and then by B.B. Glinskii. The editors of the journal were S.N. Shubinskii (1880–1913) and B.B. Glinskii (1913–17). The journal had 2,400 subscribers in 1880 and 12,000 in 1913. A total of 147 volumes of Istoricheskii vestnik were published. The journal was conservative and monarchist in character, especially after the Revolution of 1905–07 and during World War I. It published articles on Russian history, the history of Russian literature, and Russian geography and ethnography. The journal also published memoirs, diaries, and translations of novels. It was richly illustrated.
