Itapecurú

Itapecurú

 

a river in northeastern Brazil. The Itapecurú is about 650 km long and drains an area of about 40, 000 sq km. The river rises in the Serra do Itapecurú on the northern rim of the Brazilian Plateau and flows into the São José Bay of the Atlantic. The Itapecurú is fed by rainwater, and high water occurs between March and May. The average discharge is less than 100 cu m per sec. The city of Codó lies on the river.
