Kasatkina, Liudmila Ivanovna

 

Born May 15, 1925, in the village of Volodarskoe, Viaz’ma Raion, Smolensk Oblast. Soviet Russian actress. People’s Artist of the USSR (1975).

Kasatkina joined the company of the Central Theater of the Soviet Army in 1947, after her graduation from the State Institute of Theatrical Arts. She has played the role of Liusia in A. Gladkov’s Until We Meet Again, Anechka in Shtein’s The Ocean, Nila Snizhko in Salynskii’s The Drummer Girl, the actress Savina in Pavlovskii’s Elegy, and Kovaleva in Dvoretskii’s Kovaleva from the Provinces. Kasatkina has appeared in motion pictures as Lena Vorontsova in The Lady Tiger Tamer and Zi-naida in Remember Your Name. Her roles in television films have included Katharina in The Taming of the Shrew, Ania Morozova in We Draw Fire to Ourselves, and Mariia Zakharchenko in Operation Trust.

Kasatkina received the Vasil’ev Brothers State Prize of the RSFSR in 1976 and the Lenin Komsomol Prize in 1968. Kasatkina has also been awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and various medals.
