Acevedo, Isidoro

Born Jan. 2, 1867, in Luanco, Asturias; died Nov. 9, 1952, in Moscow. Spanish writer. Born into the family of a worker.

From 1885, Acevedo was a member of the Madrid Socialist Union. In 1921 he was one of the organizers of the Spanish Communist Party. He was the victim of repression. He lived in the USSR from 1937. Acevedo began his literary activity as a publicist in 1886. He wrote the social novels Reason and the Heart (1925) and The Moles (1930) about the life and struggle of the Asturian miners and the book Impressions of a Trip to Russia (1923).
