Kepa
(also Keppa or Tal’vi), a river in the Karelian ASSR. Length, 154 km. Basin area, 1,640 sq km. The river rises in Lake Taiavi, passes through a number of lakes, and empties into Lake Kulian (in the upper course of the Kem’ River). The Kepa is full of rapids. It is fed by various sources, predominantly by snow. The river freezes over in November, and the ice breaks up at the end of April or the beginning of May. The flow of the river is regulated by dams made for catching logs.
