Ben-Veniste, Richard

(1943– ) lawyer; born in New York City. Assistant U.S. attorney in New York (1968–73), he headed the special Watergate task force that analyzed President Nixon's "White House tapes" (1973–75); he wrote about it in Stonewall (1977). Partner in a Washington firm (1975–82), he then opened an individual practice.
