Ivan Vasilevich Izturov

Iz’turov, Ivan Vasil’evich

 

Born Feb. 21 (Mar. 6), 1910, in the village of Poztykeros, in present-day Kortkeros Raion, Komi ASSR. Soviet Komi writer.

Iz“iurov’s first works were published in 1930. The transformation of the North is the basic theme of his stories and novellas. He described lumberjacks at work and the socialist reconstruction of the countryside in the novellas “Timkin’s Brigade” (1932) and “The Crime of Domentii” (1936) and in the collection of stories Happiness (1935). Iz”iurov portrayed the life of loggers and the kolkhoz youth in “Girls of Our Village” (1958) and “In the Upper Reaches of the Vychegda” (1959).
