Khalturin

(until 1923, Orlov), a city and the administrative center of Khalturin Raion, Kirov Oblast, RSFSR. Khalturin is situated on the right bank of the Viatka, 45 km northeast of the Kotel’nich railroad junction and 78 km west of Kirov. The city is on the Kirov-Kotel’nich highway. Industry is represented by a creamery, a consumer goods factory, and a furniture factory. Khalturin has an agricultural technicum, a pedagogical school, and a people’s amateur theater. The city is named in honor of S. N. Khalturin.
