A behaviour profile delineated in Appendix B of the DSM-IV, which has been proposed for inclusion in the DSM-V as a personality disorder a sui generis. Passive-aggressive traits include obstructive resistance to complying with the expectations of others in interpersonal or occupational situations, and a pervasive pattern of negative attitudes. Passive-aggression may manifest itself as learned helplessness, procrastination, stubbornness, sullenness or failure to complete tasks for which he or she is specifically responsible.
