means-ends analysis[′mēnz ′enz ə‚nal·ə·səs] (computer science) A method of problem solving in which the difference between the form of the data in the present and desired situations is determined, and an operator is then found to transform from one into the other, or, if this is not possible, objects between the present and desired objects are created, and the same procedure is then repeated on each of the gaps between them. |
