Khristov, Khristo

 

Born Jan. 9, 1915, in Kharmanli. Bulgarian historian. Academician of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (1974). Member of the Bulgarian Communist Party since 1944.

Khristov graduated from the faculty of history of the University of Sofia in 1940. He was a docent at the university from 1949 until 1953, when he became a professor of modern Bulgarian history. In 1963 he was appointed director of the Institute of History of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Khristov’s principal works deal with modern Bulgaria; he is a coauthor of The History of Bulgaria (vols. 1–3, 1961–64).
