Year of birth unknown; died 1514. One of the leaders and ideologists of the Dozsa Rebellion of 1514.
Mészáros was a parish priest from the small town of Megyaszo. He drew up the rebels’ most radical demands, such as redistribution of the land and extermination of the nobility. Meszaros continued to lead detachments of peasants after the defeat of the rebels at Temesvar on July 15, 1514. He was captured by the feudal lords and burned alive.
