Kidas

(also kidus), the hybrid resulting from the cross-breeding of the sable (Martes zibellina) and the European, or pine, marten (Martes martes). In some cases, the appearance and quality of the fur resemble those of the sable; and in others, that of the pine marten. The hybrid is found in areas where these two species dwell (Northern Urals, Cis-Ural Region, and Trans-Ural Region). Its habits are similar to those of the sable. The kidas mates with both the pine marten and the sable, but the male offspring of such unions are sterile.
