Adenosine Monophosphate Challenge

Adenosine Monophosphate Challenge

A clinical test of airway response to adenosine 5'-monophosphate (AMP) in patients with asthma, which has been used as a specific marker of disease activity and has a closer relationship to allergic airway inflammation than do either histamine or methacholine. The AMP challenge test can better discriminate changes in bronchial hyperresponsiveness with antiinflammatory treatment than histamine and methacholine, and could provide an approach for differentiating asthma from COPD.
