Manders, Lea
(religion, spiritualism, and occult)Lea Manders was born in Arnhem, the Netherlands, on August 7, 1956, at 1:42 p.m. She started studying astrology at the age of 17. At that time, there were not many books available in the Netherlands, so her self-study began with traditional authors like Maurice Privat. This stimulated Manders to listen very carefully to her clients, because she wanted to test the theories she discovered. Many theories did not work in practice. This has made her an astrologer who has developed her own ideas and methods.
After a few years of study, when Manders was in her late twenties, modern psychological astrology arrived and she was able to buy books from Stephen Arroyo, Liz Greene, and others in the Netherlands. These authors gave her great inspiration, especially during a time when she was developing her therapeutic qualities by following other courses. This led to more depth in her astrological analyses. In the mideighties she followed a course in medical astrology. By 1985 she had succeeded in building up a full-time professional practice. She started her own school, offering a four-year course to train astrologers, which is still very successful.
Manders has a special talent for explaining difficult subjects in an simple manner. This is one of the reasons that she is a well-known astrologer in the Netherlands. She is regularly seen or heard on national television and local radio. In the astrological world she is also well known as a teacher and a lecturer. She has written two books and two readers in Dutch and one booklet in English. The subjects range from the more popular to the esoteric. She writes articles for astrologers and for non-astrological magazines. She is currently president of the Astrologische Associatie (ASAS), an association for astrologers which she set up, which aims to make astrology more professional.
With experience in practical and psychological astrological subjects, Manders is now also intensively engaged with the more spiritual side of astrology. She uses the Kaballahistic Tree of Life to create a new vision of astrology and its role in the development of the higher levels in man. She lectured about this theme at the international United Astrology Conference in summer 2002. Manders is also active in politics. Since 1998 she has been a city-counsellor in Arnhem where she lives. Manders is married and has three sons. She speaks Dutch and also lectures in English and German.
