Kizir

a river in Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR, a right tributary of the Kazyr River—one of the rivers making up the Tuba River of the Enisei River basin. The Kizir River measures 300 km long and drains an area of 9,170 sq km. It originates in the Kryzhin Range (Vostochnyi Saian). The upper Kizir flows through a narrow valley and has many rapids. In its lower course the river splits up into branches. The mean annual flow rate at the village of Imisskoe is 251 cu m/sec. The river freezes in November (with prolonged ice drifting); the ice breaks up at the end of April. The Kizir is used for floating timber in its middle and lower reaches.
