Mikhail Iosifovich Sladkovskii

Sladkovskii, Mikhail Iosifovich

 

Born Nov. 8 (21), 1906, at Kliukvennaia Station in Krasnoiarsk Krai. Soviet economist. Corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1972). Member of the CPSU since 1928.

Sladkovskii graduated from the department of Oriental studies of the Far East University in 1930. He was named director of the Far East Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in 1966. Sladkovskii’s main works deal with the economies of China and other Far Eastern countries and with economic relations between China, on one hand, and Russia and the USSR, on the other. He is the coauthor and editor of several works on the history of international relations, such as International Relations in the Far East (1973).

Sladkovskii has been awarded two Orders of Lenin, one Order of the October Revolution, five other orders, and various medals.
