Oways, Muhammad

 

(also M. Ewiss). Born 1919 in Bani Suwayf. Egyptian painter.

Oways graduated from the Art Institute in Cairo in 1946. In his works he depicts contemporary scenes from the life of the working people. His paintings are marked by massive forms. Among Oways’ works are Building the Railroad (1956), Fishermen of Alexandria (1958), Egyptian Peasants (1962), The Popular Front (1960), and At the Aswan Dam.
