Machavariani, Mukhran Ivanovich

 

Born Apr. 12, 1929, in Argveti, Sakhchere Raion. Soviet Georgian poet.

Machavariani studied philology at the University of Tbilisi in 1952, the year his first works were published. His original lyrical gift was apparent in his first collection, Verses (1955). The poems in the collections / Will Make You Glad (1957), Red Sun and Green Grass (1957), Along the Road (1965), and Speak (1971) speak for the life-affirming younger generation, deeply conscious of its responsibility to the present. He has been awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor.
