Kokshenga

a river in Vologda and Arkhangel’sk oblasts, RSFSR; a left tributary of the Ust’ia River (Severnaia Dvina basin). Length, 251 km; basin area, 5,670 sq km. Its sources are mixed, with snowmelt predominating. The average annual water flow at the village of Moiseevskaia, 106 km from the mouth, is approximately 35 eu m per sec. The river freezes in October or November and thaws in April. It is used to float logs.
