Level Divide Vegetation
Level Divide Vegetation
(placor vegetation), the vegetation of level divide areas (placors), which are composed in the European USSR primarily of loamy or clayey soils. Level divide vegetation communities usually correspond to the zonal type of vegetation; in the steppe, for example, level divide vegetation is represented by grass-forb steppe communities. The study of level divide vegetation is basic to geobotanical zonation of territory, which is necessary if the vegetation is to be used efficiently.
