Marcus Antistius Labeo

Born circa 50 B.C.; died A.D.18. A Roman jurist, the founder of a Roman school of jurists who were followers of Aristotle. The school was called the Proculian school, after the name of Labeo’s disciple Proculus. Labeo was an opponent of the imperial regime and an advocate of the republic. The Pandekta (Digest) and other parts of Justinian’s codification included excerpts from works of Labeo’s disciples expounding his views.
