Naphthalan Naphtha, Refined

 

a compound mixture of naphthene and aromatic hydrocarbons and resins. Density, 0.925–0.960 g/cm3; immiscible with water.

Preparations made from refined naphthalan naphtha are used in medicine for the treatment of dermatitis, eczema, neurodermatitis, pruritus, pyoderma, and burns, as well as inflammatory diseases of joints and muscles, neuralgia radiculitis, and plexitis. Naphthalan treatment is prescribed independently (for example, at the resort of Naftalan) or in combination with other preparations in the form of ointments, pastes, or suppositories.
