Krasnoarmeisk
a city (since 1938) in Donetsk Oblast, Ukrainian SSR, in the Donbas, 65 km northwest of Donetsk. Railroad junction, with lines to Pavlograd, lasinovataia, Lozovaia, Donetsk, and Dnepropetrovsk. Population, 132,600 (1972; 110,000 in 1956).
Krasnoarmeisk is the site of several large coal mines, including the No. 1 Central, Krasnolimanskaia, Rodinskaia, G. Dimitrov, and T. G. Shevchenko mines. Another large mine, the Krasnoarmeiskaia-Kapital’naia, was under construction in 1973. Also located in the city are the F. E. Dzerzhinskii Dinas Plant (production of refractory materials), a combine for the manufacture of prefabricated housing materials, enterprises for servicing railroad cars, machinery-repair plants, and the Metallist Plant. Krasnoarmeisk is the site of a branch of the Donetsk Polytechnic Institute, a pedagogical school, and an evening mining technicum (branch of the Selidovo Mining Technicum). The city was founded in the 1880’s.
Krasnoarmeisk
a city in Moscow Oblast, RSFSR. It is situated on the Voria River (a tributary of the Kliaz’ma), 18 km east of the Sofrino railroad station (on the Moscow-Zagorsk line). Population, 22,000 (1970). Its textile industry, which was first developed in 1835, produces cotton fabrics.
Krasnoarmeisk
(until 1926, Golyi Karamysh; until 1942, BaPtser), a city in Saratov Oblast, RSFSR. Situated at the source of the Golyi Karamysh River (Medveditsa basin), 18 km northeast of the Karamysh station on the Saratov-Ilovlia rail-road line and 18 km from the Akhmat landing stage on the Volga. Population, 18,000 (1970).
Krasnoarmeisk was founded in 1766 and became a city in 1918. Handicraft production of printed and coarse calico was developed in the city before the October Revolution of 1917. Weaving-and-finishing and knitwear factories, the Rabochii Machine Plant (founded in 1884), a brickyard (founded in 1870), and an oil mill were built or rebuilt during the prewar five-year plans. A branch of the Saratov Evening Light Industry Technicum is located in Krasnoarmeisk.
Krasnoarmeisk
a city and center of Krasnoarmeisk Raion, Kokchetav Oblast, Kazakh SSR, on the Chaglinka River. Railroad station (Taincha), 80 km north of Kokchetav. Population, 17,000 (1970). The city is the site of the Taincha Motor Repair Plant, a building-materials plant, a plant for the production of dry milk, a building-materials combine, a furniture factory, and a mill. Krasnoarmeisk was formed in 1962 from the settlement of Taincha and the village of Novosukhotino.
