Lp(a) lipoprotein

A low-density lipoprotein in which apolipoprotein B-100 is linked to apoprotein(a). It contributes to the obstruction of blood vessels in atherosclerosis. See also: lipoprotein

Lp(a) lipoprotein

A low-density lipoprotein particle containing apolipoprotein B-100 linked by a single disulphide bridge to the glycoprotein apoprotein(a). This lipoprotein plays an essential part in artherothrombogenesis and its level is a reliable predictor of death from atherosclerotic pathology in elderly men.
