Kumroch
Kumroch
a mountain range in eastern Kamchatka Peninsula, in the northeastern part of Vostochnyi Range. Length, approximately 200 km; elevation, 800-1,400 m (the highest peak: Shish Volcano, 2,346 m). The western slopes are steep and the eastern slopes gentle. The central part of the range is dissected by the broad valley of the Kamchatka River. The range is composed of Mesocenozoic volcanic, sedimentary, and lava rock. The slopes of the Kumroch Range are covered with sparse forests of Ermans birch and groves of alder and cedar; mountain tundras cover the summits.
