Kunges
a river in western China. Length, approximately 220 km. The river originates from snowbanks and glaciers on the southern slope of the Iren-Habyrga Range in eastern Tien-Shan. The Kunges River flows mainly through the wide intermontane Kunges Basin. Joining the Tekes River, it forms the Ili River. High water occurs in summer. Near the mouth, the river feeds vast salt marshes. The Kunges is used for irrigation.
