Kuratowski, Kazimierz
Born Feb. 2,1896, in Warsaw. Polish mathematician, Academician of the Polish Academy of Sciences (1952).
Kuratowski was appointed a professor at the L’vov Polytechnicum in 1927, a professor at the University of Warsaw in 1934, and director of the Mathematics Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences in 1948. His works deal with set theory, the theory of functions of a real variable, and graph theory. He was elected a foreign member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in 1966.
