Kurtina

(1) In a formal park, an open area of lawn framed by clipped shrubs and trees. In an informal landscaped garden a kurtina is a small grove of trees and shrubs [similar to the English word “parterre”].

(2) A group of trees and shrubs of the same species in a mixed forest; a certain section of a forest or garden.
