Ligeti, Károly

 

Born 1890; died June 2, 1919. Hungarian revolutionary.

Ligeti was a metalworker by trade. He was a member of the Social Democraatic Party of Hungary and of a metalworkers’ union. During World War I he was a prisoner of war in Russia (from 1916). While in the Omsk prison camp in 1917, he joined the RCP (Bolshevik). He helped organize the international detachment of the Red Guard and edited the newspaper Forradalom. Ligeti was shot by Kolchak’s forces.
