lumbosacral trunk

A short segment of nerve that includes part of the fourth lumbar spinal nerve (L4) and all of the fifth lumbar spinal nerve (L5). The lumbar trunk combines with axons from the first two sacral spinal nerves (S1 and S2) to form the portion of the sciatic nerve that will become the common peroneal (fibular) nerve. See also: trunk
