Küchemann carrots

Küchemann carrots

Küchemann carrotsA series of bodies, starting near the point of maximum thickness and extending beyond the trailing edge of a wing. This improves the buffet behavior of the wing in the transonic region. The local flow produced by these bodies breaks up the shock wave when it moves toward the trailing edge, thereby improving the buffet behavior. Also known as Whitcomb bumps. The idea was first suggested by Küchemann and Whitcomb and, hence, the name.
