navigation lights[‚nav·ə′gā·shən ‚līts] (navigation) Statutory lights shown by aircraft and vessels during the hours between sunset and sunrise, in accordance with international agreements. navigation lightsColored lights on an aircraft used at night to show the direction the aircraft is moving. A red light is installed on the port (left) wing tip, a green light on the star-board (right) wing tip, and a white light on the tail of the aircraft. The red and green lights are visible from an angle of 110° as viewed from the front, while the white light located at the tail is visible 70° each side of the rear centerline.
