Martin, Paul Sidney

(1899–1974) anthropologist; born in Chicago. He spent his career at Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History, much of it as head curator (1935–64), and taught at the University of Chicago (1942–74). He directed numerous Field Museum expeditions to the American Southwest (1930–66); his fieldwork there and in the Midwest and Yucatán resulted in numerous publications.
