benzodiazepine drugs

benzodiazepine drugs

A range of sedative and muscle relaxant drugs which have largely replaced the BARBITURATES as being allegedly safer, but now beginning to be regarded with much the same critical attitudes. The range includes diazepam (Diazemuls), chlordiazepoxide (Librium), lorazepam (Ativan) and nitrazepam (Mogadon and Somnite). Long-acting benzodiazepines include flurazepam (Dalmane), clobazam (Frisium), dipotassium clorazepate (Tranxene) and alprazolam (Xanax). Addiction to the benzodiazepine drugs is common.
